Why yes, I have been MIA from Brain Candy for about a week and a half. I don’t normally do that, but it’s been a wild couple of weeks at our house with some family/friends drama and returning Pharaoh to Canine Companions for Independence.
It’s now been 12 days since we dropped off our pup in Orlando, and things around our house are slowly getting better. I haven’t cried copiously in several days. Smarty Boy even told me last night he thinks he’s feeling better. Relief to know I’m not the horrible-est mom in the entire universe by bringing this puppy into our home and then cruelly yanking him away from my child.
Many of you have asked if we’ll know how Pharaoh is doing in Advanced Training. The answer is YES. We’ll get a report each month but not until late June. If possible, I’ll try to update y’all on his progress because I want you to know just how much I appreciate all the virtual hugs and support the weeks before we had to take him back to Orlando. Especially those folks who entered and judged Pharaoh’s Pet Parade.
I’ll be honest, I’ve thought about taking the slideshow off my home page several times now and just haven’t had the strength to do it.
Some of you have also asked if we’ll raise another CCI pup. The answer is MAYBE. We’re just not ready to make that decision yet. Its a huge time and energy commitment. But we are staying involved with the CCI community by “puppy sitting” at least twice this summer. When CCI puppy raisers (known as PRs) go out of town, we don’t kennel the pups because it’s preferable to leave them with another CCI family. And since we know (or at least pretend to know!) what we’re doing, we’re a perfect place for the pups to “vacation” while their humans are on holiday!
So in June, we’ll sit for 6-month-old Hagen and then in July, it’ll be 9-month-old Bernie. And YES, I will try to post pictures of these cuties.
Again, thanks for all the reading community’s support the past few weeks!
UPDATE! I just learned that Pharaoh’s bunkmate is Humphrey III, a pup raised in the Gadsden Correctional Facility in Florida. Wonder just what they talk about when they’re going to sleep at night??
