Next week, my sister, my brother, and their kids (ranging in age from 11 to 31) are coming to Georgia! Yep, I’m excited. This little get together has been a year in the making. We’ve been talking about a family get together since 2012 when my mom passed away. We knew we’d need to make it happen ourselves since the reason we gathered at Christmas and other times of the year was gone. In fact, I haven’t returned to my hometown since Mom died.
We’ll have nine people and two dogs under one roof for 4-5 days, and I’m just praying we don’t make each other crazy. 🙂
I’ve never planned a quasi-family reunion before so I wasn’t sure how to pull it off, but this is how things are going down…
- Each couple will take point on dinner once during the week. Looks like we’ll be feasting on barbecue, seafood, enchiladas, and chicken pot pie.
- We’ve got some low-key entertainment around the cabin—board games, dart, and my new corn hole boards.
- The entire group will go zip lining together. This will be the first zip lining experience for several people.
- The girls are doing a mini-spa day.
I’m sure plenty of ribbing, storytelling, and beer drinking mixed in there. I mean, we are from Texas, after all!
So tell me about your family reunions. What’s your favorite part about getting together with your family?

Today is Particularly Preposterous Packaging Day. Honestly, I have no idea what that means. But it does make me think of bubble wrap. Who doesn’t love popping bubble wrap? Hmm…I think I have some in the closet. See y’all later. I’ve gotta go pop some bubbles to celebrate Particularly Preposterous Packaging Day!
