The Perfect Reading Hideaway for Romantic Suspense – Kelsey Browning

The Perfect Reading Hideaway for Romantic Suspense

This is our final post about finding the perfect reading spots for different genres (at least for now!), so if you missed the deets on the contemporary romance or cozy mystery spaces, be sure to check those out.

Today we’re heading into the edgy world of romantic suspense, and boy, do I have some great furnishings for the RS reading hideaway! In this room, you might read something like the Steele Ridge Series that I collaborate on with Adrienne Giordano and Tracey Devlyn.

I could also curl up with titles by authors like: Brenda Novak, Cherry Adair, Suzanne Brockmann, Kaylea Cross, Avery Flynn, Robin Covington, Lynn Raye Harris, Cristin Harber, Christy Reece and so many others!

Furniture

What reader hasn’t fantasized about a bookcase with the all-important ladder? There’s just something so sophisticated, so classy about a bookcase so tall that you need steps to reach all your books! This one from Arhaus is great because you could also store some things–like rare books and your chocolate stash–out of sight.

Oooh, I debated a number of chairs for the romantic suspense hideaway, but something about this olive-colored velvet number just called to me. So plush that I could spend all weekend in it! (But let’s be honest, it would probably be covered in Pharaoh’s fur! LOL)

This space deserves a BIG coffee table. Of course, as a mystery and RS write, I immediately thought of all the things I could hide in here. Dead body, anyone?? 😉

Lighting

This lamp would definitely fit the edgy elegance I’m going for in this reader room. I do feel, though, if I had this lamp that I might need a butler to go with it! You can find more lighting choices from Arhaus here.

Soft Goods and Rugs

I knew I wanted a soft, dark red throw for my romantic suspense space and this one from Pier 1 is perfect.

Okay, so the pillow I’ve picked may look slightly too modern for this space, but it works with the throw, and I adore the geometric print. Would you stick with this or choose something else?

Mood is so important while reading romantic suspense, so I thought this dark, mysterious rug would fit right in with the edgy furnishings.

Wall Decor

To switch things up on the art front, I’m going for this intricate mirror rather than a quote or picture. Who knows what you might see when you look into it…

Comfy Bits

If you know me, you know I can’t be totally serious and elegant! So I picked these fun black-and-red jammies to go along with the swanky items in this room.

And since no reading spot would be finished without a drink, I’m suggesting this custom Steele Ridge magic mug featuring all the series book covers. It starts out black and only reveals the covers when you pour something hot inside. My suggestion: Some quality hot chocolate spiked with a generous shot of Jameson Irish Whiskey!

And yep – there’s a Pinterest board for this room as well!

Thanks to all of you who’ve followed this fun post series over the past week.
