I know you’ve probably missed your Texas vocabulary lessons. So today, I want to share some ways you might express mild (or less) sympathy when someone you know’s got problems.
Runnin’ around like a chicken with its head chopped off – frantic or disorganized.
Ex. “Before that weddin’, her momma was runnin’ around like a chicken with her head chopped off trying to make sure the beer weinies weren’t burning.”
Up shit creek without a paddle – in a real pickle.
Ex. “Flat tire with no spare? Looks like you’re up shit creek without a paddle.”
SOL – shit outta luck. In an even bigger pickle.
Ex. “Johnny Gale wanted to go to Las Vegas, but he’s damn near broke. Guess he’s just SOL.”
