Title: Divergent
Author: Veronica Roth
Genre: Young Adult
Why Divergent is a Red Hot Read: After reading the Hunger Games series, Smarty Boy floundered a bit, trying to find something he would enjoy as much as Suzanne Collins’s work. I happened to find Divergent in O’Hare Airport and thought it looked like his kind of read. I was right, and now he can’t wait for Insurgent to hit the shelves in early May. Divergent is another dystopian story, where the protagonist Beatrice must select a faction and qualify to become a member. If she doesn’t qualify, she will be without a faction for the remainder of her life, a fate worse than death. Although I haven’t yet read Divergent personally, Smarty Boy is a big fan. What I’m a big fan of? That he loves these books with female protagonists!
PS – don’t forget today is the last day to enter my writing prompt contest. C’mon people, it’s only 250 words!

In honor of Smarty Boy’s love of baseball, today is Babe Ruth Day. One of the Babe’s famous quotes is:
“Never let the fear of striking out get in your way.” And that’s advice we can all hang onto.
In other news, today is also National Hairball Awareness Day. Believe me, I think if your cat hacks up a bundle of hair and fur and uckiness, you are probably very aware of that fact. God bless you, cat owners.
