Wow, y’all! People went ga-ga over my Contemporary Romance Reading spot last week. That makes all the virtual shopping Heather Machel and I did sooo worthwhile.
Today, we’re switching up the styles and highlighting the sweetest spot to read a pile of cozy mysteries like the Seasoned Southern Sleuths Mysteries that I co-author with the lovely Nancy Naigle.
If I could have all these goodies in my house, I’d settle down with books by authors like: Ellery Adams, Duffy Brown, Kate Carlisle, Sparkle Abbey, Julie Moffett, Adrienne Giordano, Gretchen Archer, Leslie Langtry, Diane Kelly, Jana DeLeon, Mollie Cox Bryan, Leighann Dobbs, and Toni McGee Causey.
Cozy mysteries tend to have bright-colored covers with fun illustrations. I think they’d really pop against the dark back of this adorably traditional bookcase.
The all important reading chair! This one comes with rolled arms that make me think of simpler times and two pillows to snuggle against. (Don’t worry – more pillows to come!)
This type of reading calls for a lap quilt that looks like your granny might’ve made it for you. In fact, my grandmom–who turned 100 last April–has always been an avid quilter and would love this design!
The pillow! As much as I adored the map pillow in the contemporary romance post, this one appeals to the library lover in me. (Do you still visit the library? I totally do. And although I love the ability to scan books to check them out, a part of me misses the old card catalogs from when I was a kid.) The fun thing about this pillow is that you can customize it to your family.
The second I saw this side table, I knew it was perfect for the cozy mystery space. With a wide top and room inside to stash your TBR (to be read) pile, it couldn’t be more perfect. You can find more Arhaus end tables here.
This lamp makes me smile every time I look at it. It reminds me of a birdhouse (without the mess – LOL). AND it doubles as a book rest but doesn’t crack the book spine, something that horrifies most book lovers.
The rug for this space was a little more challenging. But something about cozy mysteries just makes me think of old-fashioned parlors with handmade doilies. So how about a beautiful “doily” for our floor? This crocheted rug is so unique and crazy gorgeous.
To finish off the cozy decor for the reading space, I latched on to this great Jane Austen quote: “If adventures do not befall a lady in her own village, she must seek them abroad.” Isn’t that just perfect for readers? Sometimes we’re not able to travel far distances ourselves, but books take us all over the world!
We don’t want to forget the reading attire, and these plaid PJs are some of the cutest and most comfy-looking out there. They even let you take your books to bed with you. 🙂
Since our reading table looks like it’s the perfect spot to set a tea tray, my cozy mystery drink of choice is exactly that. With this cute mug and literary tea collection, we’ll be all set for a lazy Sunday afternoon of good books and warm hearts!
I’ve created another Pinterest board of these fun items! A BIG ol’ Texas-girl thank you to Heather, who helped make this post series possible! <3
And if you missed it, don’t forget to check out Kelsey’s Contemporary Romance Reading Spot!
So give it to me straight, are you a cozy mystery fan, a contemporary romance fan, or both?
