I just finished reading BLOOD KISS by JR Ward and loved it. A throwback to the original Black Dagger Brotherhood books, the emphasis is on the romantic journey and character arc, rather than the complex world she’s created. The scenes involving girls night out with the shellans watching Magic Mike XXL and the males reacting to it were so freaking funny. It was sheer joy getting back into her paranormal world. If you enjoy JR Ward, here are several other authors you may enjoy:
Lara Adrian
You can’t go wrong with anything by Lara Adrian. Seriously. If you haven’t read her yet, you need to! Her Midnight Breed series is one of my all-time favorite vampire series. So raw and emotionally authentic, you’ll swear that hot sexy vampires are real…and you’ll wish you had a breedmate tattoo. As the series progresses, the couples from earlier books still make appearances and play major roles. And while I’ve read some of the books out of order and wasn’t confused, you’ll probably enjoy it more if you start at the beginning with KISS OF MIDNIGHT.
Alexandra Ivy & Laura Wright
In each volume of the Bayou Heat series, you’ll get two stories by two of my favorite authors, Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright. While this particular series isn’t vampires (both authors also write smoking-hot vampire series), it is very hero-centric with uber sexy shapeshifting males, smart heroines and lots of sexy times. The world building is complex and believable, and the pacing is so quick that the pages almost turn themselves. The series starts with RAPHAEL/PARISH.
Rebecca Zanetti
FATED by Rebecca Zanetti is the first book in the Dark Protectors series. It’s everything I look for in a dark paranormal romance. A sexy, possessive alpha hero who just happens to be a vampire. A whip-smart scientist heroine. It’s fast paced, exciting and when these two get together, they literally smolder!
Laurie London
Laurie London is the New York Times bestselling paranormal romance author of the Iron Portal and Sweetblood series. Her latest release is REBEL’S DESIRE, book 4 in the Iron Portal series.
