I've always been a big fan of ROMANTIC SUSPENSE (so much so that I've joined up with Adrienne Giordano and Tracey Devlyn to write a series!) so I'm always doing a tap dance when we have an RS author here on the IF YOU LIKE series!
The fabulous MISTY EVANS will tell us who else to read if we're fans of Maya Banks.
My first experience with a romance novel was at my grandmother’s house during a family reunion when I was thirteen. I found a Harlequin story about a sheik and his harem and it totally blew my mind. Not just the sexy sheik, but the relationships between the women in the harem. I read a variety of romances after that, then switched to mysteries and literature for many years. In my 30’s, I rediscovered romances, but Harlequins no longer did it for me. I needed danger with my romance – explosions, car chases, dead bodies, you get the idea.
I started reading Suzanne Brockmann, Linda Howard, Carla Neggers. Then I got my first publishing contract with Samhain where Maya Banks was also an author. I wasn’t into her westerns or paranormals, but soon Maya’s career took off and the next thing I knew, she was publishing the KGI romantic suspense series. I loved the damaged heroes, the strong family bonds, and the gutsy heroines. A lot happens in the world of the KGI operatives, both dangerous and sexy!
So if you like big series like Maya’s KGI series where there are high stakes, romance, and lots of characters to follow through the series, here are a few others I recommend:
Susan Stoker
Susan Stoker’s SEAL of Protection Series. Susan actually has several RS series out and all of them are great reads.
Katie Reus
Katie Reus’s Red Stone Security Series. Wonderful romance and lots of action.
Cynthia Eden
Cynthia Eden’s Mine Series. I love all of Cynthia’s books, whether RS or paranormal. Her characters are always deeply flawed but tremendously brave and loyal. Love ’em.
Misty Evans & Adrienne Giordano
Misty Evans and Adrienne Giordano’s Justice Team Series. Yes, I’m plugging myself, but the Justice Team Series is the brainchild of two romantic suspense authors who both enjoy intricate plots, rebellious heroes, sassy, take-charge heroines, and sexy romance. There are four novels and two novellas currently available, and Adrienne and I are working on the fifth novel this month.
The nice thing about several of these first in a series books is that they’re free! Enjoy!
