One of our (many thanks to Heather Machel!) favorite things to do each year is curate a list of fabulous gifts for both readers and writers! This year, we're highlighting unique and fun items you can find on Etsy, which means many of these are offered by small business owners. As a small business owner myself, I know how important it is to support folks who make their living from creating cool shit!
Read on for suggestions for every budget. Also here's our list of the 30 Gifts for Writers in case you missed it!
(Disclosure: I am an Etsy affiliate. If you click and purchase any of the below items, I may earn a small commission, but your cost for the item will NOT be affected.)

The only not-so-great thing about reading is that by staying so engrossed in a story, it's easy to sit for hours and get cold without realizing it. This shawl works in more ways than one - it keeps a reader gal warm AND allows her to take her book with her when she gets up to make a warm cup of tea, coffee, or cocoa!
"I don't like reading in bed" said no reader ever. On those days when your reader just wants to lounge in the sheets with her latest binge-read, this fabulously neutral huggy reading pillow gives back support and is easily moveable with the handy dandy handle.
I am so uber-impressed by the folks who can do this intricate book folding (Heather Machel, I'm lookin' at you!). This one would make a fun addition to your reader's bookshelf.
Wait, single bookshelf? Nah, let's be honest, your reader has more than one place she stashes her stash of books. She'll want to put this one on her most prominent shelf!
This is possibly the most adorable bookend I've ever seen. And we all know how true it is that every woman is a Super Woman. Remind her that you think she's super with this thoughtful gift.
A selection of smaller gifts inside a bigger box? And it's a mystery? Uh, sign me up!
This box of goodies would make any reader feel special and loved.
One look at this little pretty and I wanted it on my bedside table - STAT! (Not "stet," although that would work too.
I'm not sure how much light this puts out to read by, but it's so darn pretty that I wouldn't even care.
Perfect for the reader who doesn't want to pull her nose out of a book to tell her family that she's reading again. And again. And again.
She can let the throw do the talking for her!
Gifts Under $25
Just in case other people don't realize the extent of all your reader's bookish hobbies, this t-shirt will make it clear lickety split.
Since there isn't a room in the house that shouldn't be touched by books, this is a pretty way to add a library to the bathroom without, you know, putting a magazine basket in there.
If your reader has a hard time deciding which of the bajillion titles on her e-reader to read next, this little goodie will help her choose. Just send 100 titles to the Etsy shop owner and your reader will get a jar of adorable paper slips she can choose from. Easy peasy.
With this personalization, there would be NO mistaking whose mug this is. It allows your reader to tell people "No touchy-touchy" without saying a word!
Who can resist string, a rainbow, and the mantra of every passionate reader? Not me!
This cute locket will allow your reader to insert two pictures - maybe of her two fav people or possibly of her two fav book covers. 🙂
Because it's 2020 and we can all damn well use all the positivity we can get. Besides, what reader doesn't love adding miniature books to her collection?
If your reader has a green thumb (or at least aspires to have one!), these adorable book planters will be just the thing for her favorite sunny reading spot.
I would say this is the perfect shirt to wear to holiday parties that your reader is reluctant to attend, but... Again, 2020. Regardless, we can have hope for 2021!
A fabulous addition to the personalized mug above.
Gifts Under $10/Stocking Stuffers
If your reader isn't one for a permanent reminder of her bookish obsession, this fun temp tattoo will allow her to express herself without going under the needle.
The dainty earrings will go with everything, but are especially perfect for a jaunt to the library or a reader event.
These would be lovely to use, especially during the dark winter when spring seems infinitely far away. All your reader has to do is open her book and dream of May!
Every reader I know adores the scent of paper and bookstores. And since few of us have been venturing out to real live stores recently, this is a way to bring the scent of reading home.
These little magnets make me to happy that I can't even express it! Adorable on the fridge or a magnetic whiteboard.
Readers are infamous for loving quotes (I have a whole collection of them myself). Pair a quote with a string bracelet for the perfect stocking stuffer.
Do y'all sense a theme here? Readers love the ability to communicate with you without having to expressly tell you they don't want to talk to you! LOL
Pencils are always a great addition to your reader's purse or desk.
Your reader will love putting one of these on her car, especially if she has a bit of a commute each day. Pair this with an audiobook subscription, and she'll be your fan for life.
Splurge Gifts (over $50)
This bookshelf is so gorgeous that I want to order one ASAP (even though I have no idea where I would put it). Imagine seeing your reader's eyes light up when she spots this among her holiday gifts this year.
These super-cute purses come in several different covers. Find your reader's fav classic and she'll be ready to hit the town (as soon as we can all hit the town again).
12 Days of Bookmas? YES, please! These fun little surprises are sure to make your reader's holiday season brighter, one day at a time.
Not only is this tote gorgeous from the outside, but it has a magnetic closure and four slip pockets inside. Style and organization all in one!
